KAROLYN SHERWOOD GALLERY
Is pleased to announce the opening reception for
KAREN STROHBEEN & BILL LUCHSINGER: LAYERS
Opening Reception to Meet the Artists
Thursday, June 15
5:00 – 8:00pm
The popular and prolific duo of Karen Strohbeen and Bill Luchsinger have created a new body of work which will be presented on Thursday, June 15 from 5:00 – 8:00pm at KAROLYN SHERWOOD GALLERY in the Shops at Roosevelt, Des Moines . The public is invited to view the show, which is made up of three distinct series of photographs and digital prints. Time spent in Key West , Florida this past winter influenced a series of Luchsinger’s newest work, in which he layers two or more images to create works that captivate and romance the viewer. By using considerably different scales on each layer, Luchsinger creates a feeling of intrigue as one tries to discern the separate images. Karen Strohbeen and Bill Luchsinger, in collaboration, have also begun a new series that layers traditional still-lifes with brilliant and vibrant backgrounds that meld into a single image that once again requires the viewer to study each image carefully to visually separate the front layer from the back layer. The third series in this exhibition is a striking new body of work immortalizing botanicals. With amazing clarity and composition, each flower is beautifully illustrated, sure to please even the most advanced gardener.
This show will run through July 22. For more information, please contact Jenn Dierdorf at jenn@karolynsherwoodgallery.com. Or call 515.274.5600 . Images of the new work is available on our web site: www.karolynsherwoodgallery.com/artists.html and then clicking on Karen Strohbeen/Bill Luchsinger and Layers 2006.
