“The World’s Interactive Art Gallery” indeed. One part art crit blog. One part Myspace Visual Art. One part giant Saatchi ad campaign. I’m officially both overwhelmed and ambivalent. I love it. I hate it. What other Web site can boast what Saatchi’s does: listings of university art/design programs, online fairs and galleries in pretty much every major city worldwide. Also at your fingertips: chat booths for artists, online crits, studios and salesrooms. There’s even a photo blog of worldwide street art. And a gladiator-style “Artwork Showdown!” Phew, that is a lot to take in! Exploring the site, my eyes kept frantically jumping from flashing signal to flashing signal. If you can endure the epileptic fit that may ensue, however, it’s worth a look. The Web site does stand alone with regards to the amount of sheer information you can glean from it. And that is something in and of itself.
